The top photograph shows a joined up image of the bottom two photo's and is one end of a 'sunken lawn' The fencing was replaced in August last year, the bottom two images show the two ends prior to the fence replacement. The old fence was disguised by ivy a forsythia, buddleia etc which was quite untidy and unkept. The shrubs were cut back when the fence was erected and there is no discernable border at this end. I will be looking to create a large border along this fence line with perhaps 1 specimen tree ? shrubs and perennials. I cant decide if it should be rectilinear or perhaps an elipse in shape.
This lawn is the lowest part of the whole garden and is quite damp over the winter months.
So there are a few things to be thinking about and for you to follow including the Allotment and my own garden post extension. Lets all hope for a good spring and summer !
